Its Senior Season!

As a mom of a (now) senior I want to talk a little bit about Senior Portraits.

Now is the time that Concord starts taking Senior portraits. CHS requires that you use "their" photographer for the formal yearbook photo. And, yes, I have to admit my own son is scheduled for his this week with them. Of course I want him to be in the yearbook! Its a big deal! It's his SENIOR year! So I sucked it up and made the appointment. Of course I can take a simple head and shoulder shot for the yearbook myself BUT, it is not "allowed" so off he will go to pose in another studio.

Honestly, I am ok with it. Because I know that after that is taken care of I will be able to create some beautiful images of him that will represent "him" at this stage of his life.

We do that with all seniors, not just him because he is mine. I want to be true to my craft by creating special portraits that you will have for a lifetime. This may be the last professional portrait that is created of YOUR son or daughter until the day they get married! And you know it will hang on the wall for many years to come!

What represents where you are at in this part of your life? Is sports your thing? Dance? Horses? hanging out with your friends? We want to incorporate everything that is you into your session! We want to make it yours! And, we want you to love them!

Photography is not somthing that I just do that pays my bills (although that is a plus!). I know that everytime that I create a portrait that I am creating a legacy. It is a portrait that will tell a story of you when your grandchildren are around and far beyond - if it is quality work. That is what we offer!

It's Senior Season!

This is one of our first Senior session of the season! Now is the time to schedule your senior portrait session! The grass is green, flowers are in bloom, ponds are open... where do you want to be for your senior portraits? You know, the portrait that will hand on your mom and dad's livingroom wall forever?!

We will listen to you and make it the best portrait you have ever had made of yourself! We want to know all about you so that we can bring those things into your heirloom portrait and make it special to you. I mean, do you really want your senior portraits look like everyone else's?

So Kayla wanted her portraits to be outside, she wanted images of her converse sneakers, she has alove of vampires, and her mom wanted a few in the studio. No problem! We included it all! She looked amazing! One of the great things about our studio is that with most of our Collections (packages) you get to choose more than one pose. This way you get the poses you like and mom can get what she likes and everyone is happy!

I hope everyone had a terrific Holiday Season and and Very Happy New Year!

We are so excited to be back in the studio after a 2 week vacation from the studio with our own family! For us the weeks leading up to the holiday season mean taking care of everyone else's family needs before our own. So after the last order is delivered (somewhere around the week before Christmas) we finally get to do our own shopping, designing and printing for our family! (Yes, our extended family tends to get portrait of me my husband and our children as part of their gifts as well every year!) I always feel good about passing our most special family portraits along to family each year! I find it very important in the history of a family to record a yearly portrait to have for generations to come. And, there is something very special about a printed image that you know will be around long after we are gone!

Happily, December seemed to be our busiest yet, although somewhat manageable, for the first time ever! So I have to give Lauri (my office assistant) a huge THANK YOU!!!!! After 6 years of being here, I can honestly say, she has finally got me organized! :)
We are very excited to share some new things with all of you this year. We have New Collections, New Products, and more Contests to keep things Fun!!!

Amazing Family!

These beautiful family came in recently for a session. The last time they were here was about 4 years ago! Since then they have added a sister to the family who just turned 2 and was as pretty as a princess! These kids were so good and so fun to photograph! I have no doubt that we have created some very special images for them that they will cherish for years to come! Here is a sneak peek for mom (she is dying to see them!) ....

This little guy came in for a session with his mom this week and we had fun!

His mom is actually a photographer so her is quite used to being in front of the camera! So he totally knew how to turn it on for me! BUT, he is also at the age where he knows when to smile but some of them were that "Im smiling for the camera" face... still VERY sweet but not natural looking.. so we played some games to make the sparkle happen and I think it worked!

What do you think? I think he is got a future in acting!

Not your typical School pictures!

For those of you that have been to our studio before (or are friends with me on Facebook) you will reognize my daughter Sydney!

Every year, since my son started school 12 years ago, when school pics roll around I have to smile... and yes, I get out my checkbook just like every other parent! Why? because there is nothing like the goofy school pics that you get from the school photographer! I have them of me, I'm sure you have them of you, so why shouldn't OUR kids have them when they become adults to look back on and laugh about too?

You know exactly what I am talking about! The funny haircut, the goofy smile, the plaid shirt, the fact that you have your long sleaved sweater rolled up to your elbows because it was your favorite back to school outfit but it was 90 degrees on picture day! (Yes, that is one of my favorites from 4th grade!)

However, with all that being said it is also important to have Real Portraits created of your REAL kids... being who they really are with a REAL smile and not with the cheesy one because some guy tells them too, well, say "CHEESE". EWWWW!!!

So these are a few of the images I got of Syd this year. She loves to fish but she also love her pink sequined hat and she loves to "dress up".. this is her, and this is Real, and this is what I REALLY want to give to my family and hang on my wall - not the goofy school pics!

4 Lovely Ladies

This beautiful family came in recently for a Generations Session (4 generations to be exact)!

"Nana 2" is here visiting and they thought it would be nice to have their portrait taken together and I for one am so glad they did! I love doing portraits like these because the reason that we have portraits created of our families is to have them for years to come! It is especially wonderul to have a portrait made with 4 Generations! Of course they are special images to have now but can you imagine how nice it will be for this little one to have this portrait that she can pass down to HER kids!

I personally have my grandmother's collection of family portraits now in my family collection and I Llove them all! It is so fun to sit with the kids and look through them. It is a part of our history, of course. Not only is it so fun to see hair styles and clothing styles but a part of life that we might not remember (because we were so young) but know that we were a part of!

This is another great example of why I love what I do. To be able to create a portrait for a family to have for a lifetime and beyond.

Thank you Ladies for allowing me to be a part of this special day for all of you and for reminding me again how special family is! You are all beautiful and I had fun! :)

2 Princesses and a (mud) Pit!

The two little cuties have been coming to the studio for portraits since they were in their mommy's belly! And now look at them! Yesterday they made the trip, with their mom, from Ossipee - Just to play in the Mud! :)

But, some little pricesses rather blow on old dandelions and make wishes. But once this little princess finished making all her wishes, she was all for having fun in the Mud! It was a great to be in there yesterday because not only was the mud cool but so was the pool they got to jump in to clean off afterward!!! I'm not sure which part they liked best! :)

Dancing in the Rain

When Taylor came in for her Senior Session she told me that she loves to dance in the rain! So we thought it would be great to make that happen! Since I have always loved dance (18 years of training) and I LOVE photography, I am so happy when I can combine the two! We had a fun session up in Laconia on Monday with 3 amazing dancers! And, we created some very traditional and some NOT so traditional images. Seriously, these girls were great! I can't wait for them to see all of them but here is a sneak peek at some of my faves! Baby B is now Big Girl B!!!

We Celebrated a birthday here at the studio today!

Which means Baby B has graduated from the Bellies and babies Blog here to the Real Kids Blog!!!! YAY!!!! We had cake to celebrate and we LOOOOOVE cake here at the studio!

AND, She brought her big sister with her today to help her celebrate this special Milestone!

So here are some of the image below that we captured. Now, when you see the one of the two girls pay close attention to their expressions because they are undeniably sisters! LOL

4 years old!

So, I just got a couple of awesome new pettis to play with just in time for Julianne's 4 year portrait session!

She had her choice of a Raspberry colored one or a pink and brown one.... she chose the pink and brown all on her own! THIS is a girl with Fashion sense!!! Not only did the pink match her leotard but the brown matched her gorgeous hair! So as you will see this made for some great images (even though I made some b/w or sepia you know me! I cant resist!)

Did I mention how well she follows direction? I think we have a model in the making!

I LOVE age 4!!!!

Shelby and Trinket

Yesterday was a beautiful day!

Fortunately, Lauri had booked a Senior Session in Wolfeboro, it was PERFECT! So we headed up there late afternoon and met Shelby at her home for some images with her "baby" Trinket. The light was perfect and there was still a bit of color on the trees!

These are a few of the images that we got from the session... it was so hard to choose only 3 for the blog.
